‘Annabel’ unveiled as Ash’s second ‘Islands’ Track

Ash announce brand new single ‘Annabel’, the second track to be lifted from the forthcoming album ‘Islands’, released May 18 via Infectious Music – and you can listen to it now on the Shoot Music – New Releases playlist.

The track comes ahead of their previously announced inclusion at the BBC’s Biggest Weekend Festival in Belfast – home to many Ash appearances from their first DIY shows in city centre bars to numerous shows at The Ulster Hall and The Limelight and the historic Referendum show at The Waterfront in 1998.

Following their return via the riotous ‘Buzzkill‘ earlier this year, ‘Annabel’ sounds like a classic Ash single – soaring guitars enveloped in a delicious, warm , widescreen chorus – yet another addition to an already enviable catalogue.

An open-hearted collection of songs drawn from frontman Tim Wheeler’s reflective lyrical axis dealing with friendship and betrayal, love and loss, ‘Islands’ is an album which reaffirms the their status as one of the most idiosyncratic and singularly thrilling guitar bands around.

Ash – Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray – return to Infectious Music, where they enjoyed number ones with ‘1977‘ (1996) and ‘Free All Angels‘ (2001), for their first album since 2015’s ‘Kablammo!‘.
