Rising Australian artist E^ST made quite an impression with her breakthrough track ‘Life Goes On’ which raced passed 8 million streams at Spotify and earned praise from the Evening Standard (the Virtually Famous column) and The Sunday Times (Hottest Tracks).
Now E^ST has unveiled her brand new track ‘I Don’t Lack Imagination’.
Having premiered on triple j breakfast and THE FADER, it’s a powerful move for one of pop’s most exciting new talents.
The song was written and recorded in Atlanta earlier this year with Oak Felder, whose credits include Alessia Cara’s ‘Scars To Your Beautiful’.

E^ST said, “This song is about building up an idea of someone in your mind, but then when you actually get to hang with them and get to know them you realise they’re pretty lame and nowhere near as cool as you preconceived them to be.
“It’s an ode to all the bad first dates we suffer through.”
With 3 EPs under her belt, E^ST is writing her own trajectory.
20-year-old Australian songwriter and artist E^ST (a.k.a Mel Bester) has always moved to the beat of her own drum.
Maybe it’s because music has been the one constant in her life (she relocated to Australia from South Africa when she was a kid, moving house with her family close to 30 times).
Or perhaps it’s something more innate that sets her apart from her peers: a natural curiosity teamed with a gift for expressing the conflicted emotions of youth in her own distinctive voice.
Bester’s prodigious talent was first picked up on six years ago when she sent an acoustic demo off to Swedish publishing and production powerhouse The Kennel.
The hit makers were intrigued and invited this unknown teenager from the New South Wales Central Coast to Stockholm, twice, for month-long stints in the studio.
Unbound by past experience and influence, her songwriting is united by a strong sense of melody and compelling vocal as well as a demonstrable commitment to the pop craft.
E^ST most proved herself with the global breakthrough ‘Life Goes On’ and the bold empowerment anthem ‘Blowjob’ which was praised by Nylon.
A new body of work is expected later this year.
E^ST will tour Australia throughout August and September as support to Amy Shark.
