The Baggies have had a tumultuous time in the Premier League, having been promoted to and relegated from it a total of seven times between 2002 and 2010. However, Albion enjoyed an extended spell in the top tier thereafter, managing eight consecutive seasons before being relegated this May.
This spell included an eight place finish in 2012-13 spearheaded by current Manchester United ace Romelu Lukaku, who bagged 17 league goals in a campaign that saw Albion manage a Premier League best of 49 points.
However, the club’s biggest achievement in the top tier before the Premier League era was far greater, as the Baggies took the First Division title in 1919-20 by a fine 9 point margin from Burnley. A second place finish followed in the 1924-5 campaign, but Albion have been unable to match their 1920 title since.
They have, however, enjoyed more than a considerable amount of success in the world’s oldest club competition, having appeared in 10 FA Cup Finals – including three in as many years between 1886 and 1888. Victory in five of these finals has seen the Baggies become the joint-sixth most successful team in the history of the competition.
This season, everyone in North West Birmingham will be backing the Baggies to snatch an immediate return to the Premier League. You can get behind them too by following the West Brom FC Fan Playlist!
