The Seagulls are currently flying high and have just enjoyed their first ever full season in the Premier League – and their first season in the top flight since the 1982-83 campaign. Having successfully avoided relegation during the 17-18 campaign under the wise leadership of Chris Houghton, Albion will be looking to continue the momentum gathered from last season’s 15th place finish and look to become Premier League regulars.
Brighton and Hove Albion FC were formed in 1901 following the collapse of both Brighton United and Brighton and Hove Rangers. Originally named Brighton and Hove United, the United was dropped in favour of Albion shortly after the club’s formation. The club has competed in a total of 7 season of top tier football since its inception, and reached the FA Cup final in 1983, which they lost (following a replay) to Manchester United. They are still yet to win a major trophy, with the final in ’83 being their nearest brush with glory.
