Locadia – the alter-ego and music alias for Dutch international footballing star and Brighton & Hove striker Jurgen Locadia – has released the track ‘Echoes’ – and you can listen to it on the Fantasy Premier League playlist.
“Echoes was one of my first projects, it was made in my period of rehabilitation from a nasty injury,” said the Premier League forward.
“As soon I got the vocals I went into the studio with a my engineer and a few friends to get a vibe. I’m talking about my day ones who have been supporting my music and helped me through my injury, like my family did.
“The foundation of Echoes was done in a week I guess. I started on the keyboard with the melody and then my buddy G Wise came with the inspiration for the drop. The process of Echoes was easy and fun to do. Its a different sound for me but the record was a team effort. I couldn’t do it without them.”
Having enjoyed a successful spell with PSV Eindhoven, becoming their top scorer and notching up a number of Dutch titles; the injury Jurgen previously mentioned occurred in the early weeks of the 2016/2017 season.
At this time where he found himself in an isolated space and without a daily purpose besides doing light training, he needed a hobby and a focus so he turned to his lifelong passion for music to help him rehabilitate.
“Football will always comes first, my music is my hobby and a passion when I’m not training or playing for the club I love,” he added.
“Music actually helps my football. It helps with my focus and avoids and keeps away the distractions that come with this lifestyle. Music is a release for me and brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction.”
Jurgen returned to the PSV team in March 2017, and his goals were soon followed by his very first release in the form of ‘Take Off’ and ‘EPOK’ on his own label Nardo Music, before his latest offering ‘Can’t Let Go’ on established dance imprint Powerhouse.
The Netherlands international secured his move to England in January 2018, becoming Brighton’s club-record signing. Now having helped the team secure top-flight status, Jurgen releases ‘Echos’, which is a slight departure from the young star’s heavier sound.
