Get ready for Villa v City with the Official Carabao Cup Final Playlist

Get in the mood to head down to Wembley Way backing Aston Villa or Manchester City this weekend by streaming and following the Official Carabao Cup Final Matchday Playlist on Spotify.

The 2019-20 football season marks another milestone in the history of the EFL Cup – currently known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship purposes – with it being 60 years since the competition was established.

After six rounds of competition since the start of August, Midlands giants Aston Villa face fellow Premier League side and defending champions Manchester City to decide who will climb the stairs to the Royal Box to hoist the trophy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday March 1.

The Villans entered the competition in the Second Round, and saw off Crewe, Brighton Wolves, Liverpool and Leicester as they look to win their sixth League Cup, which would make them the joint second most successful side in the competition’s history. Pep Guardiola‘s side began their defence of the trophy in the Third Round, and comfortably beat Preston, Southampton, Oxford and rivals Manchester United to secure their spot in the final for the third year in a row.

Both sides set to lock horns this weekend come from cities with a rich history of music, which is reflected in the tracks picked for the Official Carabao Cup Final Playlist, which you can listen to below on Spotify.

The playlist is topped by four tracks from bands and artists that are fans of each side. Representing Villa are heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath, Indie rockers Editors, rising DJ Nathan Dawe and psychedelic Scottish rockers Primal Scream. On the sky blue side for Man City are Indie pop sensation Blossoms, Britpop icons Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Cheshire indie rock trio Doves.

The rest of the playlist is rounded out by a host of terrace anthems and some of the biggest new releases, with Endor‘s ‘Pump It Up‘ – arguably the biggest terrace tune of the 2019-20 season – leading the way. Also featured are tracks from Love Regenerator (aka Calvin Harris), Celeste, Camelphat, Lee Cabrera, Dua Lipa, DJ Fresh, The Snuts, Tom Grennan, Sports Team, Green Day and Biffy Clyro.
