Celebrate the Three Lions’ return to action with our England Playlist


After their spectacular run to the Semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia this summer, celebrate the Three Lions’ first international game since the tournament this weekend by listening to some of the biggest football songs on our England Playlist on Spotify and Deezer.

Gareth Southgate’s heroes are back at Wembley on Saturday evening for their opening match in the UEFA Nation’s League competition against Spain, with a friendly against Switzerland also taking place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Tuesday September 11.

The playlist is headed by Baddiel & Skinner‘s classic collaboration with The Lightning Seeds, ‘Three Lions’. The track rode the wave of national pride during the competition to return to the the top of the UK Single’s Chart for the first time in 20 years in July. It also set a new record for the number of times that a song has had spells at No.1 with the same artist line-up, with two appearances at the top on its initial release in 1996 and returning to the summit in 1998 and 2018.

If you’re headed to Wembley for the game, make sure to get there early to check out alt-rock trio Bang Bang Romeo, who will be playing three 20-minute sets between 5pm-7pm on the England Fanzone stage outside Wembley Arena.
