English indie rock band Courteeners have announced ‘Modern Love’, the third single from their recently released fifth album, Mapping the Rendezvous. Listen to the single now on the Shoot New Release Sport Playlist!
‘Modern Love’ is a huge, speeding pop song; the kind of field-filling paean to the joys of carefree youth that has quietly made Courteeners one of the UK’s biggest homegrown bands. Modern Love was co-written with Adam and Theo from Hurts; Theo also performs backing vocals.
Courteeners fifth album – Mapping the Rendezvous – charted at No 4 on release last October. The band followed it with their biggest ever UK tour – a sold-out run that included arenas and halls up and down the country.
They have released five studio albums: St. Jude (2008), Falcon (2010), Anna (2013), Concrete Love (2014) and Mapping the Rendezvous (2016); as well as several EPs and two DVD albums.
All the music and lyrics for the Courteeners’ songs are written by the band’s frontman Liam Fray. He states that all of the songs he has written are about personal experiences.
Courteeners play the biggest show of their career at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford (home of Lancashire County Cricket Club) on Saturday May 27th 2017. The band will be supported by some of the city’s very best (past, present and future): The Charlatans, Blossoms and Cabbage. All 50,000 tickets have now sold out.
The band were also among the first acts announced for this year’s Glastonbury Festival (21st – 25th June).
Courteeners are releasing a highly limited 12” of the Mapping the Rendezvous track the 17th exclusively for this year’s Record Store Day (April 22nd).
