Calling all Toffees fans! Get behind the blue pride of Merseyside ahead of every game at Goodison Park by following the new Everton FC Official Playlist on Spotify.
The Blues carry the mantle of being one of the most respected clubs in English football, with proud traditions and an old school ground in Goodison Park that is the favourite trip for many an away fan wanting to soak in the atmosphere in and around the ground.
The Toffees are one of the oldest clubs in the country, having been formed 142 years ago in 1878, and are one of the founding members of the Football League. They also hold the record for the most seasons spent in the top flight since the Football League structure was established, having spent only four of the last 120 seasons outside the highest division.
Everton have had a decorated history, picking up nine League Titles, five FA Cups and two League Cups in their history. They are one of the most consistent performers in the modern Premier League era, finishing in the top flight’s Top 10 in 12 of the last 15 seasons.
They also have one of the fiercest and arguably best known rivalries in the world with Liverpool. With only one mile and Stanley Park separating Anfield and Goodison, the Merseyside Derby is a match that not only splits the city in half but families too, with brothers, fathers, cousins and other relatives divided between their love for the Red and Blue sides of the city.
Leading the way for the modern era of the Toffees as manager is Carlo Ancelotti, who has overseen a turn around in form for the Blues since his arrival on Merseyside in December 2019. Prior to the 2019-20 season being suspended, the club were sat 12th in the Premier League table after 29 games.
Ahead of every game, whether making the trip to Goodison or on the road in the Premier League or a cup competition, why not get in the mood for kick off en route by streaming and following the Everton FC Official Playlist on Spotify.
The playlist is topped by the iconic ‘Theme From Z Cars’, which has been the club’s walkout anthem since 1962. The theme, used in the police drama based in Kirkby area of the city, is an arrangement of the Liverpool children’s folk tune ‘Johnny Todd’, which was part of a collection of songs put together by music scholar Frank Kidson in 1890.
Also featured near the top of the playlist is one of the club’s most popular terrace anthems, ‘Spirit Of The Blues’, with home fans often heard belting out “Everton, we never shone so brightly. Everton, the spirit of the Blues.” from the Goodison stands.
As well as the above track, the playlist is packed with a host of musicians who are Toffees fanatics, including Paul McCartney and John Lennon – represented by The Beatles‘ iconic ‘Come Together’, Circa Waves, DMAs, Ocean Colour Scene, Zuzu, The Cult, The Zutons, Bill Ryder-Jones/The Coral and many more.
