The France team football, (Équipe de France) was created in 1904. It is the national team representing France in the men’s international competitions of soccer under the French Football Federation (FFF). Players are traditionally referred to as the Blues.

After placing third at the end of the World Cup 1958, victory eluded France until the 1980s, with the 1984 European Championship. France then won the Olympic title in Los Angeles the same year, and the intercontinental Cup of Nations in 1985.

In 1998 France hosted the World Cup , and went on to win the competition by beating Brazil in the final at the Stade de France. France then won Euro 2000 with victory over Italy in the final.

They went on to occupy the 1st place in the FIFA world rankings from 2001 to 2002, and reached the finals of both the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and Euro 2016 in France. However victory eluded them on both occasions.

France is the first national side to win all of the major international competitions: World Cup (1998) Confederations Cup (2001, 2003) Olympic Games (1984) and continental championships (1984, 2000).
