Glass Animals share first taste of new album on ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’

Fresh off the back of playing a pair of shock-wave shows in Manchester and London, Glass Animals have shared their brand new single ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ – released today on Wolf Tone/Polydor.

‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ is a tantalising first hint of what is to come from Glass Animals‘ third studio album, the follow up to Mercury Prize nominated How To Be A Human Being, and its predecessor and the band’s debut ZABA.

Paying tribute to the formative influence of both Timbaland and The Neptunes, ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ is a conflicted booty-call anthem, best explained in Dave Bayley’s own words, “This song is about being addicted to chaos. About doing or allowing something self-destructive because on some level you get off on the sadness that comes of it.”

Dave continues “It’s about wanting to float around and exist inside of that feeling because it has always been familiar to you. It’s something that a lot of people know from growing up in a tense household…so it can feel right to create that dynamic, even if you don’t realise you’re doing it.”

2020 already promises to be a momentous year for Glass Animals – the universally-adored British four-piece fronted by Dave with his bandmates and childhood friends Joe Seaward, Ed Irwin-Singer and Drew Macfarlane.

The tone was set when they dropped bombshell release ‘Tokyo Drifting’ ft. Denzel Curry at the close of last year and celebrated by playing a packed-out surprise secret show in a tiny venue in Oxford.

It was an important moment for Glass Animals, with it being their first headline show playing together since drummer Joe’s cycling accident in 2018. The success and reaction to the show fortified the band to announce an extensive but incredibly intimate run of shows around the world this Spring – playing some of the spaces they played when they first started out, reminding themselves of what they have and what they nearly lost, and crucially, a big thank you to the fans who supported them throughout.
