2017 X Factor winners Rak-Su spoke with Goal.com about Manchester United’s 2018-19 campaign so far, trading musical success for football glory and more as part of the leading website’s Goal Playlist series.
The Watford quartet of Ashley, Jamaal, Myles and Mustafa also chatted about what fans can expect from them in 2019, along with Myles and Ashley’s experience of being part of the 2018 Soccer Aid game. The pair lined up on opposite sides of the pitch for England and the Rest of the World respectively at Old Trafford back in June.
Ever since the four-piece dominated our TV screens last autumn on The X Factor, everyone knew they were different. Each and every week Rak-Su danced their way to the winner’s crown on the back of their own songs, becoming the only act in the show’s history to win performing their own original music.
Working with producers/writers Banx & Ranx (Charli XCX, Gorillaz) and Rykeyz
(Wiz Khalifa), Rak-Su released new single ‘I Want You To Freak’ back in September.
The track takes Adina Howard’s R&B classic ‘Freak Like Me’ and spins it into a bassy, bouncing dancehall track full of their signature energy and charm, and is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face.
It’s the first taste of what’s to come in the future from the group, as they continue to working hard on their debut album with a host of A-list producing and writing talent including Wayne Hector (Nicki Minaj), Jamie Scott (Ed Sheeran), MNEK, Ali Tamposi (Justin Bieber) and Grammy Award winning Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor (Drake).
‘I Want You To Freak’ has been streamed over three million times on Spotify, and you can now listen to it alongside a whole host of other banging tunes on the Goal Music Playlist.
