Grimes shares ‘Violence’ single from forthcoming album ‘Miss_Anthropocene’

Grimes has released brand new single Violence (featuring i_o), taken from the singer’s forthcoming fifth studio album ‘Miss_Anthropocene’.

Earlier this year, the singer posted on her Instagram that her next album – yet to be given a release date –  would be “a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world.”

She also mentioned that her previously released song, ‘We Appreciate Power’ featuring HANA, will also feature on the record.

The 31-year old started producing music when she had to learn the program Logic for her neuroscience class. Shortly thereafter she had a viral myspace page, which allowed her to start booking shows and focus full-time on music.

She played raves until her 2012 breakout, Visions, which was recorded during a two week stretch where she did not leave her bedroom.

Grimes went on to release her highly acclaimed fourth album Art Angels in 2015, which peaked at #36 in the US 200 Billboard Chart, #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart and #6 on the UK Album charts.

The Vancouver-born artist has since become an award winning music video director as well as music writer, producer, engineer and singer-songwriter. She’s toured globally to sold out crowds, headlined festivals, and is now moving into the space of corporate surrealism.
