Legendary British Band Madness announce the release of their new single ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’, out now on UMC.
‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ is the second single to be released from their critically acclaimed 12th studio album of the same name – which debuted at number five in the UK Official Album Chart last month.
Produced by Clive Langer and Liam Watson who both played a key role in crafting many of Madness’ 80’s hits, ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ is the bold, lively, energetic sound of six writers, six lifelong friends, six mad men playing at the peak of their powers. Exuding a breezy confidence and bands’ typical mix of self- awareness and self-deprecation, the single perfectly capturing their inimitable combination of pop, reggae and soul influences.
“(The song) Can’t Touch Us Now is a good illustration of what we’re trying to do (with the new album). It does hark back to the music we’ve always liked – it’s a bit Motown, it’s a bit Northern Soul. But it also goes back to Slade – it has that stomp about it.” says Madness guitarist Mark Bedford.
This year has already been an incredible year for the revitalised nutty boys. Having spent the summer months road testing the new material at some of the UK’s most iconic festivals including the main stage at Glastonbury, headlining Clapham Common for their own House of Common festival they achieved chart success in October with their ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’, their highest album chart position in seven years.
The music veterans are set to perform at the legendary House of Fun Weekender in Minehead on November 18-21st, before embarking on a full UK tour in December including a show at the O2 on 10th December.
