18 year-old Londoner Oscar Lang has today shared the single ‘Hey’ taken from his new self-produced EP bops etc..
It’s his first new music of 2019 and debut release on new label home Dirty Hit.
Having already worked on a string of acclaimed releases from friends and fellow up and comers including labelmate Beabadoobee and Norway’s talented Girl In Red, Lang is carving out a reputation as the songwriter and producer pushing bedroom pop to exciting new heights: a budding Brian Wilson for Gen Z.
Listen to ‘Hey’ by Oscar Lang on the Shoot Music New Releases playlist on Spotify.
His self-released 2018 records Teenage Hurt and Silk set the tone for Lang’s solo work – spanning lilting psych hooks to dreamy washes of guitar to punchy millennial lyricism; drawing in hundreds of thousands of listeners in the process.
True to his consistently collaborative mindset, bops etc. features friend and fellow teen sensation Alfie Templeman on ‘Hey’ – a highlight amongst the EP’s five inventive and thrilling new tracks written as an antidote to the mundane.
Lang adds: “For this EP I wanted to create something that would help people escape the boringness of everything that’s going on in the world and just enjoy themselves, smile and laugh.”
bops etc. is Lang’s maiden release for Dirty Hit, on the very same day he wraps up school for good. Tonight he steps out at London’s Thousand Island for a sold-out debut show proper to celebrate – with dates at Green Man and Tenement Trail festivals to follow later this year.
