Otzeki drop ‘Pay The Tax’ from forthcoming debut Album

Otzeki release new single ‘Pay The Tax’, part of their forthcoming debut album ‘Binary Childhood’ – and you can listen to it now on the Fantasy Premier League playlist.

Already picking up plays at Radio 1, ‘Pay The Tax’ imagines “an algorithm is the establishment” and references the leaked Paradise Papers and the injustice of a system that serves itself rather than the people it’s supposed to.

Otzeki’s debut album ‘Binary Childhood’ is released on April 13 and teams Joel Roberts (keys, Ableton) meticulous attention to deal with the improvisational methods and stream of consciousness writing that’s been a feature since their inception.

It’s an album driven by rhythm, that takes their previous use of electronic loops and infuses them with more organic sounds and live percussion. An exercise in the dark arts of electronic music, ‘Binary Childhood’ delivers a kind of controlled raving that’s served with a side-order of something subtly sinister and, despite their insistence that they’re not academically inclined individuals, is packed with cerebral songwriting.

Debut EP ‘Falling Out’ set the agenda and Otzeki’s follow up singles have seen them pick up support from Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X and a growing fanbase via tours across Europe and the US.

To coincide with ‘Binary Childhood’ the duo embark on an extensive European tour preceded by dates at SxSW. The schedule includes two instore shows at Rough Trade East and Bristol respectively and an album launch at London’s Oslo.
