Calling all Gers supporters! Celebrate your 55th Scottish league title win by streaming and following the brand new Rangers FC Official Champions Playlist – providing the perfect soundtrack for you to party at home.
It’s been a long wait for fans of the blue side of Glasgow, but five years on from their return to the top of the Scottish football pyramid and a decade on from their last top flight title win, Rangers were crowned champions for the first time in the Scottish Premiership-era on March 7 2021 with six games to spare, having won 28 of their 32 league games up to that point. It also extends the number of league titles won by the Light Blues to 55 – a domestic league world record.
It’s a championship victory that has been carefully masterminded by Steven Gerrard since took on his first managerial role at Ibrox in 2018. The Liverpool icon has helped nurture a winning culture in a squad filled with firepower from the likes of strikers Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe and a back four anchored by defensive stalwarts such as club captain and talismanic right back James Tavernier and Connor Goldson and midfield maestros Glen Kamara and Ryan Kent.
On top of their 55 Scottish league titles, Rangers have won the Scottish Cup 33 times, the Scottish League Cup a record 27 times and the domestic treble on seven occasions, a joint world record shared with fierce Old Firm rivals Celtic. They also won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972, with their last appearance in a European final being as runners-up in the UEFA Cup in 2008.
With fans rejoicing after their long awaited return to the summit of Scottish football, the brand new Rangers FC Official Champions Playlist provides the perfect soundtrack for you to party at home and celebrate lifting the league title trophy for the first time in ten years.
‘Welcome To The Party’ by DJ Krissy sets the tone as the playlist opens with some of the biggest feel-good tracks, including the now-iconic sea shanty ‘Wellerman’ by Gers supporter Nathan Evans and Owen Westlake‘s ‘So Much Love’, which Stevie G was playing in his car when he arrived at Ibrox to a sea of expectant fans ahead of their 3-0 win over St Mirren – the day before they were crowned champions.
Fan favourites such as ‘The Roof Is On Fire’, Simply The Best’ and the unofficial promotion anthem ‘Live It Up’ are also featured, along with songs from Rangers fans including AC/DC, Travis, Amy Macdonald, Biffy Clyro and The Snuts, plus a selection of some of the biggest and best football anthems, both old and new.
Naturally, the Gers squad have also had the chance to add their own choice of tracks to the playlist, including Morelos’ dressing room favourite ‘Sweet Caroline’ and classic tunes from the likes of Queen, ABBA, The White Stripes, Culture Club and DJ Otzi.
