Following Richard Hawley’s recent album entering the charts at #3, he has released title track and new single ‘Further’ through BMG.
‘Further’ is a song about longing for summer holidays. On an upbeat number, Hawley tales the story of someone working hard in the grime, but never beaten, instead striving on motivated by the desire to be in the sunshine with loved ones.
With its shuffling beat, exquisite string arrangement and Hawley’s much loved baritone to the fore, the song is further proof of the man’s gift for writing the type of heartfelt songs that have made him the revered songwriter he is today.

The title track of Hawley’s eighth studio album – his highest charting record, equalling 2012’s Standing At The Sky’s Edge – the album marks a departure for Hawley who has, to date, named all his albums after Sheffield icons or landmarks.
Challenging himself to keep things relatively up-tempo and keep the songs to about three minutes long, Further is quite possibly his most forthright album to date, clocking in at under 40 minutes.
The album follows the hugely successful musical Standing At The Sky’s Edge, the musical that bears the name of Hawley’s sixth studio album, which finished its sold out run in April at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre.
Featuring 20 Hawley songs (including three from the new album), the musical chronicles the life of three families who live on the city’s Park Hill estate across three generations. It is a local story that covers global issues.
