Rodrigo y Gabriela have released ‘Battery‘, a tribute to Metallica and a demonstration of love for the music that taught the band an alternative way to live their lives – and you can listen to it on the Shoot Music New Releases playlist on Spotify.
The original was the opening track to Metallica’s 1986 album ‘Master Of Puppets‘ and this version is taken from ‘Mettal‘ EP (releasing on limited edition vinyl on November 29th and digitally in February 2020).
‘Mettal‘ acts as an expression of the music that made Rodrigo Y Gabriella dream about playing guitar and becoming professional musicians.
Rodrigo y Gabriela have established themselves as a hugely in-demand live act, particularly in America, where they sold out the Hollywood Bowl (two nights) and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre as recently as summer 2018.
They have also sold out multiple nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Le Zenith in Paris and Radio City Music Hall in New York, not to mention venues in Australia, Japan and Europe.
With career album sales well in excess of 1.5 million worldwide, Rodrigo y Gabriela have established themselves as globally successful artists who are eager to write new chapters in their already illustrious story.
Earlier this year the Mexican acoustic rock guitar released their first album in five years with the launch of ‘Mettavolution‘.
The LP – released via Rubyworks / BMG – ‘Mettavolution‘ brought together Rod and Gab’s passionate interest in Buddhism, the history of human evolution and the liberation of the potential we have as a species; all expressed through the medium of two acoustic guitars.
Rodrigo y Gabriela also embarked on a headline European tour back in April, which included a London Roundhouse show the week of release of ‘Mettavolution’.
