Royal Blood Reveal Third Album Track ‘I Only Lie When I Love You’

Royal Blood gave released the third song, ‘I Only Lie When I Love You’, from their hit second album, ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ – and you can listen to it now on the Shoot Music – New Releases Playlist.

Produced by Jolyon Thomas and Royal Blood, the duo’s patented two-man artillery of carefully constructed melodic aggression powers ‘I Only Lie When I Love You’, which presents a compelling cowbell-assisted reminder of the power of a stop-start riff and a strident chorus. Its immediacy is heightened by the band’s harmony vocals which add a fresh element to Royal Blood’s sonic palette.

The video for the track, which follows the release of the thunderous ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Hook, Line & Sinker’, was directed by Pascal Teixeira (Justice’s ‘Fire’). The stylish, stripped-back monochrome allows the intensity of the track and Royal Blood’s incendiary powerful to shine through.

‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ flew to the top of the UK album chart and added a second chapter to Royal Blood’s story following their breakthrough debut album in 2014, which was the fastest-selling British rock debut in three years, hitting #1 in the UK, debuting in the Top 5 on the US Billboard 200, going Top 20 in twelve countries, and selling over a million copies.

Before they knew it, Royal Blood were performing for Howard Stern, touring with Foo Fighters, holding dressing room audiences with Jimmy Page in New York, and being presented with a BRIT for Best British Band in 2015 by the very same guitar god. Their ascendency was further underlined with major awards courtesy of Kerrang!, NME and Q.

Royal Blood recently completed a short underplay tour, played Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Glastonbury, with Summer Sonic, Lollapalooza and the Eden Sessions all still to come on their festival schedule. They’ll also play their first full UK and Ireland arena tour in support of their new album in November, with special guests At The Drive In and support from Black Honey. These dates include three nights at London’s Alexandra Palace.
