Runner’s World May 2017 Running Playlist


The month of May presents extremely favourable conditions for runners. Warm enough to remain comfortable when out for a job, but not too warm to cause fatigue , and certainly no need to reach for the sunscreen just yet. For those pounding the pavement, the good folks over at Runner’s World have put together a fantastic 90 minute running playlist to keep you motivated during this month’s runs.

The UK’s running population has reached over 10.5million runners, with one in five adults running four or more times a year, while 25% of under-18s also qualify as active runners under these criteria. There is average rate of running participation of 72 times per year, or 1 to 2 times per week, and that 55% of runners do at least a third of their running out on the roads, whilst a quarter do at least a third still outdoors, but off-road [1].

Runner’s World is a globally circulated monthly magazine for runners of all skills sets, published by in the United States.

Runner’s World was originally launched in 1966 by Bob Anderson as Distance Running News, and Anderson published the magazine by himself for several years from his home in Manhattan, Kansas.

Runner and writer Hal Higdon had been writing for the magazine since the start. In 1969, Anderson changed the name of the magazine to Runner’s World. He brought on Joe Henderson as chief editor and moved the editorial offices, now named World Publications, to Mountain View, California. Runner’s World thrived during the 1970s “running boom”.
