Southampton FC were formed in 1885 at St Mary’s Church as St. Mary’s Young Men’s Association F.C, and were known under various names (including St. Mary’s F.C. and Southampton St. Mary’s) before the name of Southampton FC was adopted following their Southern League title victory in 1897. It was around this period that the Saints competed in the first two of their FA Cup finals – 1900 and 1902. The Saints have since picked up an FA Cup final victory (in 1976) and reached an additional final in 2003.

The Saints are currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League, following a slow start to the campaign which has only seen them pick up one win so far. Having competed in a total of 40 top tier seasons since their inception, the Saints will be looking continue their established Premier League profile by remaining in the top tier for the seventh campaign in succession.

You can get behind the Saints as they try to do just that by following the Southampton FC Fan Playlist!
