We’re back with our weekly Stadium Music Chart, representing the most popular new releases playing out across the nation’s Football Grounds and Sport Stadiums, compiled using official Shoot Music DJ download data.

We’re just one week away from the opening match of the 2021/22 Premier League season, with newly promoted Brentford set to take on the never-relegated Arsenal at the Brentford Community Stadium on Friday evening. This flows nicely into our top spot this week, as Arsenal fan Celeste continues to hold firm at the top with Stop This Flame, a track many would now describe as a football anthem!

Top Four

It was last season while taking part in Mark Lawrenson’s Premier League predictions segment that Celeste revealed all regarding her love for The Arsenal, and the reasoning behind supporting the gunners. Lawro asked “Why Arsenal?” to which Celeste responded “While growing up one of my mum’s best friends supported Arsenal. I was close with all of them and they were vying for me to follow their team. Then I remember my mum’s best friend’s husband bought me a kit – an Arsenal kit – and I was like ‘this is cool’, and that was enough to win me over. From then on I was always leaning towards Arsenal.”

The 27-year-old winner of BBC Music’s Sound of 2020 Award got used to the sound of Arsenal fans while living in North London. She explains, “I used to live in Holloway, near the Emirates Stadium, and you would always know when there was a game on. It was almost like you could feel it, from the top of the road to the bottom. People would be doing these massive long walks on their way to the game and go past us. I never went myself but, when the fans are allowed back, I’d love to go to a game. It would be really cool to experience it, especially after this year when you have seen the difference in empty venues.”

Behind the gunner we have Walsall fan, Becky Hill, who has used her collaboration with David Guetta to elegantly catapult herself up 7 places from 9th to 2nd! The release of ‘Remember followed hot on the heels of Becky singing The National Anthem at the FA Cup Final 2021 a couple of months back and ahead of her hitting the road again. It’s another dance banger from Becky, and one that suits the stadium atmosphere perfectly. It seems her fellow collaborator agrees stating, “In my opinion, Becky is becoming one of the very rare queens of dance of music. She has an incredible voice and it felt so good to go back to house music for this record.” Remember has been especially popular at Old Trafford & Celtic Park.

Mid-Table

You may have spotted a couple of familiar faces floating around mid-table, and these are re-entrees in the form of British rockers, The Sherlocks with ‘Falling‘, and dance duo Switch Disco with their track ‘Everything‘. Since falling short of the top 20, ‘Everything‘ has picked up downloads from DJs at Liverpool FC & Bristol City, with The Sherlocks also receiving attention from the likes of Scottish giants Celtic, and Falkirk FC.

In other news, Dave jumps from 20th to 13th, thanks to the success of his work alongside Stormzy. The two Manchester United fans have not only had their track picked up by their boyhood club to be played out around Old Trafford, they’ve also received recognition from Wigan Athletic, Bristol City & Braintree Town. A popular one for sure!

Best Of The Rest

It’s just the one new entry this week, with Self Esteem‘s ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ joining the pack. This is the title track from her forthcoming second album, consisting of an array of rhythmic flourishes that speak to the eclecticism of her experience and influence. The chorus is packed with strings and synths, which accompany the powerful grouped, gospel-style vocals superbly. They are elements that make this track somewhat anthemic and sit beautifully across the mix.

Just ahead of Self Esteem, you’ll spot the Disclosure boys leapfrogging Sam Fender with their track ‘Tondo’. This one has been going strong for some time now, and that’s testament to how versatile the track is. It’s been a huge hit with TV placement, and has managed to remain on the scene just in time for the arrival of full stadiums.
