Top Four

It’s really, really tight up top. We’ve never had two artists so close, and so dominant in the top two spots. It’s pretty much neck and neck between Tractor Boy Ed Sheeran, and Welsh rockers, Stereophonics. There’s just a download or two in it, with Ed getting ‘Shivers’ extra plays at Hearts in Scotland, and Rugby Union’s London Irish this week.

There’s also a well-deserved top 3 finish for Sigrid, whose track ‘Burning Bridges’ has been in the chart for 5 weeks now. ‘Burning Bridges’ follows on from the Norwegian pop sensation’s first single of 2021, the monumental ‘Mirror’, and is a galloping future live favourite which premiered as Charlie XCX’s Hottest Record during artist month. Sigrid has one hell of a future ahead of her.

After remaining in the top four of our stadium chart for the last two months, it’s time we say goodbye to Stockport heroes, Blossoms. We have no doubt they’ll be back in the near future, especially as the band have confirmed they’ll be releasing new music in the months to come.

Roger Sanchez also continues his rise this week, after leaping from 16th to 10th in just two weeks with ‘Another Chance’, his collaboration alongside Oliver Heldens.

In other news, it’s the second week in a row that we have a FIFA 22 play-lister in our chart. Last week it was Geordie legend Sam Fender, this week it’s another of the UK’s boldest and brightest young talents, Joy Crookes. The Arsenal fan has come and got right stuck in at mid-table with ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now‘, which is not only part of the popular game’s soundtrack, but is also the opening theme for the Women’s Super League on Sky Sports. It’s the lead single from Joy’s debut album ‘Skins’, which drops next week on the 15th October, and is bright and breezy on the surface, with a thumping, addictive bass-line.

Best Of The Rest

Among the rest, we welcome ‘Caroline’, a new entry from Miles Kane and the second track cut from his highly-anticipated new album ‘Change The Show’, out 21st January 2022. The horns-soaked track is an infectious Motown inspired bop made for the ballroom dance floor.

“It’s a song about reaching out to someone to tell them they are special and loved,” Miles said of the track. “It’s so important for us to communicate with each other at the good and the bad times, even when it’s hard to do so.”

As mentioned earlier, Sam Fender entered the top 20 last week and he’s been making moves upwards ever since his track ‘Get You Down’ landed on the latest FIFA soundtrack. Stay tuned as we have a feeling this one has more to give in the weeks to come, with downloads from DJs at Crystal Palace, Heart of Midlothian & Manchester City all coming in thick and fast!
