Shoot Music’s Stadium Music Chart – 20/08/21

We’re back with our weekly Stadium Music Chart, representing the most popular new releases playing out across the nation’s Football Grounds and Sport Stadiums, compiled using official Shoot Music DJ download data. The 2021/22 season is now well and truly underway, with DJ numbers really starting to pick up as a result. The rise in downloads this week has led to the highest number of new entrees to our chart since its inception! This is super exciting, and sure to continue growing through the weeks and months to come.

Top Four

Flying high at the top of this weeks stadium chart, we have YouTube, social media & now Hip-Hop phenomenon, KSI with his hugely successful track ‘Holiday’. Just last week the 28 year old performed this number at the Team GB Homecoming Concert for the olympics, a massive feat from a young man who used to play video games behind a screen at his parents house for a living. It’s been some journey for JJ, and one that’s now seeing his musical ventures take the spotlight. We should give a portion of thanks to the exposure of his material inside huge Premier League grounds, like Anfield & Villa Park.

Next we have a few debutants coming in and rapidly taking 2nd spot, an utter legend in Elton John, alongside one of the music world’s hottest young artists since her first single in 2015, Dua Lipa (remixed by PNAU). This collaboration has seen two of the world’s most celebrated artists come together on a record for the first time. The seed of the collaboration was planted after Dua invited Elton for an Instagram live discussing his experiences with Studio 54 ahead of her remix album ‘Club Future Nostalgia.’ A shared respect and subsequent friendship blossomed which saw Elton appear as a guest on Dua’s record breaking Studio 2054 live stream. Dua subsequently performed at The Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, which raised over $3 million for the Foundation. Driven by the restrictions of lockdown and a renewed passion for collaboration, Elton reached out to Dua to work on new music together remotely. The combination of these two icons has drawn attention from DJs at a variety of clubs at this early stage in the season, Liverpool, Rotherham & Celtic to name a few.

Around mid-table we can see a huge jump in places from The Vaccines, and some new entrees in the form of Blossoms, and Jungle with their brand spanking new record, ‘Loving in Stereo’. It’s a dynamic disco record for the post social distancing age, with a dancefloor-igniting celebration of all the things that make music irresistibly fun. It’s one we’ve all been waiting for and the result is an album that will take Jungle into the upper reaches of charts (evidently) all over the world, as their modernist disco-rooted pop introduces them to a massive new audience.

As for Blossoms, these city mad supporters have made their debut, lodging themselves slap bang in the middle at 10th spot, with ‘Care For’. When putting this one together, frontman Tom Ogden says ‘I spent a lot of lockdown listening to The Style Council, Diana Ross, John & Yoko’s Double Fantasy & Billy Ocean. In my head, they all come together on this tune, to help create the ultimate end of the evening, wedding disco dance’. ‘Care For’ is receiving support from DJs at both Man City and rivals United! They’re just that good, even rivalry is being put to one side.

Best Of The Rest

As we scan the rest of our top 20, it’s clear we have an impressive first for the stadium music chart. Alt-rock stalwarts, The Sherlocks are the first group/artist to appear in our chart twice in the same week with two different titles! ‘Falling’ has been present for a number of weeks getting ongoing love from DJs, and with their highly anticipated record ‘World I Understand’ on the way later this year, the first single from that album, ‘City Lights’ has also made an appearance at 20th. ‘City Lights’ proves the band’s penchant for creating an anthemic alt-rock hit remains intact, despite having to adapt to 2 members dropping out of the group just last year. Combining this with lockdown restrictions, the Crooks brothers said “To be honest with you, I think many others would have thrown in the towel and just said, ‘let’s look back on the fond memories we’d made while it lasted’. But for us it wasn’t even a question of whether we’d carry on, it was more a question of how long it would take to get back to where we were.” Safe to say they have, and they’re sounding better than ever!
