Shoot Music’s Stadium Music Chart – 23/07/21

Welcome back to our weekly Stadium Music Chart, representing the most popular new releases playing out across the nation’s Football Grounds and Sport Stadiums, compiled using official Shoot Music DJ download data.

Our top 2 are unchanged this week, with the tag team of Calvin Harris & Tom Grennan leading the way once again with ‘By Your Side’. This is testament to the consistency of Calvin’s production, his tracks almost always seem uplifting, with a unique melody and bouncy beat throughout the mix. For us, this recent work is up there with 18 Months, an iconic record known for containing banger after banger. He’s always picked his collaborations perfectly, and this time round was no different, with Grennan’s vocals sounding really at home on a dance track.

We then have some movement further down, with the Nothing But Thieves boys moving into the top 3 with ‘Futureproof’, slotting in behind Celeste‘s ‘Stop This Flame’! That’s massive, and having seen these lads support Muse at the O2 some years back, it’s no surprise as they really do have a punchy sound that just sits perfectly in stadiums and large arenas alike. NBT continue to evolve their sound and experiment further through Futureproof’, yet manage to remain authentically them. Produced by Richard Costey (Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Muse) and recorded between London’s RAK Studios and guitarist/keyboardist Dom’s home studio, it is a sinister, dynamic and unpredictable track that examines the meaning of self-preservation through powerful lyrics.

We must finally give a shout out to the most talented musical sibling duo of the last decade, Disclosure and their track ‘Tondo’ which is still making waves and has remained prevalent for over 18 months now. Guy & Howard sneak their way up into 20th with this fast, African-inspired number, replacing The Sherlocks.
