Cardiff City are currently enjoying their second ever season in the Premier League, and only their ninth season in the top tier of English football since the Second World War. The Bluebirds form last season saw them leading the charge at the top of the Championship for much of the campaign, only to eventually lose out on the title to Wolves. Nonetheless, City earned themselves a well-deserved second place and return to the top flight under the leadership of Neil Warnock, whose experience and diligence they will be hoping pay dividends when in comes to avoiding a repeat of their 2013-14 relegation from the Premier League.
The Bluebirds were formed in 1899 as Riverside AFC as part of a cricket club designed to keep players fit and occupied during the off-season. The club began to steadily grow in stature and changed their name to Cardiff City FC whilst playing in the South Wales Amateur League. City moved into Ninian Park in 1920 and were playing in the top tier of English football by the time of the First World War. The inter-war years saw the clubs most extended period of success, as they reached two FA Cup finals in 1925 and 1927 (winning the latter) and finished runner-up in the first division.
Now is the time to get behind the Bluebirds and the 30,000 fans that cheer them on every week at the Cardiff City Stadium by following the official playlist!
