Grime icon Stormzy makes his return with ‘Vossi Bop’ single and video

Multiple award-winning British musician, Stormzy, has today unveiled his highly-anticipated new single ‘Vossi Bop’.

‘Vossi Bop’ marks Stormzy’s first release since 2017 and, the first from his #Merky Records label partnership with Atlantic Records.

Originating from a viral dance created by NL Vossi in 2015, ‘Vossi Bop’ is produced by British producer Chris Andoh and showcases Stormzy’s world class lyricism, signifying a hugely poignant return for the modern-day troubadour.

Directed by Henry Scholfield, the accompanying visual sees Stormzy perform in a plethora of iconic London locations including; Westminster Bridge, Silvertown Square and the Bank of England in central London. It also features a cameo appearance from British actor Idris Elba.

First emerging on the scene in 2012, the lyricist made chart history in September 2015 when his freestyle “WickedSkengMan 4” charted at #18 in the UK Official Singles Chart, becoming the first-ever freestyle to chart in the UK Top 40.

He then proceeded to break his own record in December, when ‘Shut Up’ debuted at #8 in the UK charts following an epic social media campaign. The single has sold over one million copies worldwide and is certified Platinum in the UK.

The South London-born rapper has continued to build on that success, with his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer going straight in at #1 in the UK Album Charts on its release in 2017 and being named the British Album of the Year at the 2018 Brit Awards.

Stormzy will also be the first Grime artist to top the Glastonbury Festival bill when he headlines the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 28 this summer.
