Villa Introducing November 2021 Band of the Month – LOVEBREAKERS

Last month, teamed up with Aston Villa Football Club to launch Villa Introducing. The unique initiative – designed to champion new music from Villa fans across Birmingham every month – has now gone live on the official Aston Villa Spotify Page. Each month, Villa Introducing supports local acts by giving entrants the chance to be the Villa Introducing Band of the Month. The inaugural holders of the title, LOVEBREAKERS, sat down with to talk live shows, Steven Gerrard and their current single ‘Family Man’:

SP.COM: Congratulations! You’re the first ever Villa Introducing Band of the Month. How does it feel?

LOVEBREAKERS: Thank you so much! As an lifelong Aston Villa fan, I’m absolutely buzzing for LOVEBREAKERS to be the first ever “Band of the Month”. It is an incredible feeling!

SP.COM:  We’ve added your track ‘Family Man’ to the official AVFC playlist. Can you tell a little more about how it was created?

LOVEBREAKERS: Yeah so the lyrics to “Family Man” is about starting your own family. A close friend of mine had his first baby and my imagination began to start running wild. I envisioned him doing the stereotypical day-to-day dad chores, like washing the people carrier and saving diligently for a family holiday. It has this kind of literal, social commentary about it and I think it’s a song in which lot of people can relate to, especially new parents.

SP.COM: The season is well and truly underway. Now that there’s been time to assess, what do you think is a realistic goal for the Villa come the end of the season?

LOVEBREAKERS: With Steven Gerrard coming in as our new manager, I think a realistic goal would be around mid-table. We need to re-stabilise the team and rebuild the squad with new tactics, a few new players and fresh staff. I would love to say let’s push for Europe this season but I think we need to focus on a particular style of play in order to make Villa Park a fortress again. We have a great set of owners, who have goals for big achievement. It’s a very exciting time to be a Villa fan because the club is developing, we just need to be a little patient this season because of the change in management.

SP.COM: Who would be the ultimate Villa player, past or present, to feature on a LOVEBREAKERS track?

LOVEBREAKERS: I watched John Terry sing “Stand By Me” during his initiation and the man has got some pipes! LOVEBREAKERS feat JT has a nice ring to it…

SP.COM: You’ve got the choice of either playing a homecoming gig at Villa Park, or seeing the Villain’s take Premier League glory on the last day of the season. Which do you choose and why?

LOVEBREAKERS: I’m going to say Villa taking Premier League glory on the last day (beating Wolves), but then as our captain lifts the trophy, LOVEBREAKERS are on a stage behind the players. We then play “Family Man” and Villa Park goes off!

SP.COM: Villa Park has been the scene of some legendary moments over the years – what is your fondest memory of the ground?

LOVEBREAKERS: I think that first match back after COVID made me realise what a special place Villa Park is. The fans are the best in the World and the atmosphere was electric.

SP.COM: On the music front, LOVEBREAKERS are really starting to turn some heads – can you tell us more about your plans for the rest of this year and 2022?

LOVEBREAKERS: We played a headline show at the Flapper on the 20th November. We’re recording some songs for a local TV show called Raw Sound TV which will be available to watch (online) in December. We are also doing a London show before the year is out so if your based down south, come see us. In terms of 2022, we have scheduled to record our second album in January/February time so brace yourselves for a bunch of new LOVEBREAKERS songs next year. Then finally, in the Summer we go on a European tour with LA punk legends Social Distortion alongside playing music festivals in the UK and Europe. Follow us on all socials or visit our website for tour dates, merchandise and other exciting stuff!

Villa Introducing will be hosted on the official Aston Villa Spotify profile, alongside the official Aston Villa matchday playlist. The playlist – also in collaboration with Shoot Music – went live last year and has attracted over 1,900 fans to date, featuring timeless sounds from Neil Diamond, Jeff Beck, and Black Sabbath, plus new talent such as 2021 Brit Nominee Nathan Dawe.

The playlist will be updated every month to host the very best in upcoming talent, so whether you’re a rock ‘n’ roll quartet or a DJ sculpting the best beats in Birmingham, Villa want to hear from you!
