Villagers are a ‘Real Go-Getter’ on new single from latest album

Villagers have released the latest offering from their new album, ‘Real Go-Getter’.

Last autumn saw the release of ‘The Art Of Pretending To Swim’, the band’s acclaimed fourth album that was shortlisted for Ireland’s Choice Music Prize last week.

On TAOPTS, Conor O’Brien balanced a new-found soulfulness with lyrical themes that embraced existential fears and hopes in this desperate, technologically-centred dystopian age, all while writing effortlessly accessible tunes.

On ‘Real Go-Getter’, amidst wheezing synths, O’Brien sings “Give all you got | And if you’re feeling like you’ve had enough | There’s only one way and it’s always up”. It represents an internal pep talk and a mantra for Conor.

Following an extensive European tour at the end of 2018, Villagers will play a string of UK dates including London’s Roundhouse and has also announced a huge summer headline show at Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens.
