Wretch 32 takes on Whitney Classic for ‘Tell Me’

Having just announced his fourth studio album, ‘FR32‘, celebrated UK MC Wretch 32 releases his brand new single ‘Tell Me’ featuring Kojo Funds and Jahlani – and you can listen to it now on the Shoot Music – New Releases Playlist.

Having already introduced ‘Whistle’ featuring Donae’o and Kojo Funds, ‘Tell Me’ is another club smash. Taking on Whitney Houston’s classic ‘It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay‘, the way in which producer SOS Music flips the sample is un-obvious and fits in perfectly with today’s popular Caribbean-influenced soundscape.

The video was directed by Labi and finds Wretch, Kojo, Jahlani and friends (including Avelino, Nahide, Monique Lawz, Mercston, Youngz F&Y, Wizzy Wow and Mr Bigz) enjoying a neon-lit catwalk show.

Titled ‘FR32’, Wretch’s forthcoming 12-track offering combines his effortless lyrical capabilities with infectious melodies, expressive backdrops and a deep narrative that inspires freedom and honesty. To celebrate his new release Wretch will perform a very special headline show at London’s XOYO on Monday October 16.

Playing on Wretch’s stage name, ‘FR32’ is much more than just an album title. While the significance of the numbers 3 and 2 weren’t too complex to begin with – they were simply Wretch’s lucky numbers – they went on to become a representation of freedom in the Tottenham (although he’s a huge Arsenal fan) rapper’s mind.

Now with an album that fully expresses where he is in mind, body and soul, his wandering spirit is liberated through some of the most honest music he’s ever made. Touching on everything from family issues and relationship struggles to future goals and finding inner peace, this might just be his most focused project to date.

Finding his stride at a time when British music is unquestionably the toast of the industry, Wretch 32 has delivered a stellar body of work that will be the talk of the town for a very long time.
