Yizzy shares animated visual for latest track ‘Freeze’ featuring Devilman

Lewisham grime MC Yizzy has released new songs ‘Freeze’ feat. Devilman and ‘Deh Suh’, both of which feature on his forthcoming EP ‘Welcome To Grime Street’.

Taken from his recently announced third EP coming out on new label DMY – via his own Livin Legendz imprint – the Terror Danjah produced track now shows Yizzy take a stroll down the dimly lit grime street at night before encountering a kung fu Devilman, who also takes us back to his infamous Lord of the Mics’ clash with Skepta.

Yizzy explains how the track came to be, “Terror Danjah sent me the riddim one afternoon and all he said was “I got one” – from then I knew the track was gonna be mad.

“I sat on the riddim for a while trying to work out how to approach it because it doesn’t exactly sound like your typical grime riddim, so I didn’t wanna attack the riddim the same way I usually would. In the end I decided to go for a slightly more relaxed tone compared to most of my other songs. I mixed that tone with some on the Patois style of barring that I do from time to time and BOOM! Next thing you know, you’ve got ‘Freeze’.”

Listen to ‘Freeze (feat. Devilman)’ by Yizzy on the Official Fantasy Premier League playlist on Spotify.

Since last year’s S.O.S EP, which racked over two million streams, the 19 year-old has gone from strength to strength and his unrelenting upward trajectory comes with a confidence to match.

With Devilman adding his distinctive style to the menacing horns and beat, ‘Freeze’ feels like foundation stones for the forthcoming project.

Yizzy adds how the Devilman collaboration came to be: “Terror Danjah reached out to Devilman around the same time so everything kind of just fell into place really and the timing was perfect.”
