Drum ‘n’ bass heavyweight Turno, Tanzanian-raised, London-based artist Tiggs Da Author, dancehall icon Beenie Man and acclaimed actor, DJ & producer Idris Elba team up for powerful new single, ‘Rise Again’, out today via NQ Records.
‘Rise Again’ fuses drum ‘n’ bass energy with reggae, dancehall and rap influences. A bold sonic meeting point between four artists whose careers span continents and cultures, the result is a track built for both the rave and the radio; uplifting, high-octane and rooted in resilience.
Driven by Turno’s explosive production, Tiggs Da Author’s commanding vocals anchor the record with a message of perseverance. On Easter Bank Holiday Monday, Turno, Tiggs Da Author, Beenie Man & Idris Elba turned an off-licence in Shoreditch into a rave, performing ‘Rise Again’, to celebrate the release of their collaboration. The pop-up, powered by Off-Licence Sessions & NQ, began with Turno spinning DnB tracks which attracted passersby into the shop. He stopped his set to introduce Tiggs Da Author, Beanie Man & Idris Elba to perform ‘Rise Again’ for the first time to a jampacked crowd.
‘Rise Again’ forms part of a new series of genre-blending releases curated by NQ designed to champion unexpected collaborations across the label’s global network of artists. The project aims to blur the lines between rap, dance music and global sounds. NQ’s project began with BRIT Award-winning rapper Aitch and Mancunian producer Bou’s silver-certified single, ‘Raving In The Studio’, recorded at NQ House and peaked in the Top 30 of the UK Singles Chart. ‘DANCE’ features MOBO award-nominated artist Cristale, emerging Nottingham rapper 163Margs and Bou, also features on the project, with more releases slated for this year.
