Myles Smith releases, ‘My Mess’, the powerful opening track from his forthcoming debut album, My Mess, My Heart, My Life. - set for release on June 12.
One of the most personal songs he has written to date, ‘My Mess’ draws directly from Smith’s own lived experience, pulling from old therapy notes to paint a vivid picture of his upbringing and emotional landscape.
Built around sparse acoustic instrumentation, the track places his voice front and centre, allowing the weight of his storytelling to land with clarity and impact. “I was born into a fractured family / Where a word can start a war,” he sings, before confronting the lasting imprint of those early experiences in the chorus: “Sorry I’m so goddamn indecisive / I was raised just to do as I’m told… I’m still learning to walk on my own.”

Speaking on the track, Myles says, “‘My Mess’ is me at my most honest. It’s the sound of where I come from – the chaos, the love, the things that shaped me – and how that still lives in me today. I wrote it from a place of trying to understand why I am the way I am… the indecision, the walls, the things I’m still unlearning. It’s not polished, it’s not perfect – it’s just real. This is where the story starts”
‘My Mess’ sets the tone for My Mess, My Heart, My Life., a project shaped by reflection, growth and emotional honesty. Conceived through revisiting five years of personal journals, the album sees Smith intentionally confronting his past in order to better understand his present, resulting in his most open and self-defined body of work to date.
‘My Mess’ marks a defining step into this next chapter. It signals a shift towards more introspective, emotionally direct songwriting, while retaining the melodic instinct that has seen Myles connect with audiences worldwide.
This year will also see Myles embark on his biggest run of live shows to date, with an upcoming arena tour across the UK and Europe, alongside headline North American dates, as well as supporting Ed Sheeran on his North American tour, building on a period that has already seen him play to millions of fans globally.
