Arctic Monkeys have launched ‘Body Paint’ a new track from their forthcoming album The Car, set for release on 21 October via Domino.
Premiered as BBC Radio 1’s “Hottest Record” this evening, ‘Body Paint’ is the second single shared from the Sheffield icons forthcoming seventh studio album and the follow-up to ‘There’d Better Be A Mirrorball’, unveiled earlier this month. The track comes alongside a video directed by Brook Linder and filmed in London and Missouri. Tickets for the band’s forthcoming UK and Irish dates going on sale tomorrow at 9am, with a second Manchester date has been added off the back of a sold out pre-sale.
The Car features ten new songs written by Alex Turner, produced by James Ford and recorded at Butley Priory, Suffolk, RAK Studios, London and La Frette, Paris. The Car finds Arctic Monkeys running wild in a new and sumptuous musical landscape and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Turner’s career.

The deluxe LP will be available on limited grey vinyl with a tip on sleeve and mounted gloss cover image via the AM Official Store. An exclusive, custard coloured LP will be available at independent record shops and HMV stores. ‘The Car’ will also be available on standard LP, CD, cassette and digitally. The Car is the follow-up to 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. A softer affair than their previous albums, along with becoming their sixth consecutive UK Album Chart topping record, the LP became the group’s fourth to earn a Mercury Prize nomination.
Prior to their UK touring dates in May and June next year, the band head off on a tour of North and South America at the end of this month, along with heading down under to Australia in December and January 2023.
