Brighton power duo ARXX unleash playful new single ‘Good Boy’, out now via Submarine Cat Records
This follows prior single, equally lighthearted ‘Crying In The Carwash’ and acts as a second sneak peak into a soon-to-be-announced larger project. The duo recently wrapped up a lengthy EU and UK tour with Fletcher, played across the Greenpeace and BBC Introducing stages at Glastonbury festival, as well as being recently announced for sets at Reading & Leeds in August. They’ll be hosting headline shows across the EU and UK later this year in October and November.
Laden in harmonies, a hypnotic thumping beat and dripping in spicy, submissive tongue-in-cheek lyricisms, ARXX consider ‘Good Boy’ their “big gay anthem”. On the track, they say, “It’s a little bit saucy, it’s a little bit cheeky and it’s a lot of fun! It’s a song about feeling good and making other people feel good. It’s our favourite song we’ve made so far, we hope it makes you feel good.”

Undeniably groovy, this suggestive tune is bound to get you on your feet. However, whilst raunchy in its auditory nature, the video takes a more literal and adorable stance on the phrase ‘Good Boy’, seeing almost a dozen dogs audition for their spot in the Good Boy Academy, featuring Hanni and Clara judging and dancing with the contenders.
The last year has been a whirlwind for the band, both professionally and personally. 2023 saw them release their debut album Ride or Die, a crystalline display of masterful musicianship, frankness and queer love, play a stream of incredible live shows supporting Fletcher, Yungblud, MUNA, Gaz Coombes and The Vamps, and made appearances at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, 2000 Trees, London Pride and The Great Escape. Not only that, they dominated the radio, scoring not one, but two Hottest Records on Clara Amfo’s BBC Radio 1 show, as well as joining Chris Hawkins on BBC Radio 6 Music for a Cloudbusting session.
No strangers to championing marginalised communities, November saw the duo share a reimagined rendition of their song ‘Baby Uh Huh’ in collaboration with trans collective charity We Exist, featuring ten of their talented friends, such as CLT DRP, Cherym, Phoebe Green and more. 2022 saw them partner up with Gendered Intelligence, a charity dedicated to increasing understanding of gender diversity and improving trans people’s quality of life on Radio 1 Introducing Track of the Week Couldn’t Help Myself, as well as being awarded an AIM Local Hero Award for their work in their community.
Queerness has always been at the forefront of ARXX’s musical makeup. In November, Hanni opened up about their gender identity, coming out as non-binary on the band’s socials, sharing that they were “still figuring it out, but right now they/ them pronouns feel good”.
