Florrie unveils ‘Kissing In The Cold’ as latest taste of new album

Florrie - multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, and songwriter - reveals her stunning new song 'Kissing In The Cold'.

The track is the second to be released in the build up to her new album, The Lost Ones, out June 14. InKissing In The Cold’, Florrie reflects on a past relationship, contemplating how things might have unfolded had they met at another point in their lives. Evoking a sense of nostalgia, the pensive track is laid over a backing with striking synths and Florrie’s signature drums as a staple throughout, while allowing space for her delicate, emotive vocals to remain the focal point of the song.

Speaking of the track, Florrie said: “This song is my favourite from the new album, and is both full of hope and longing. I think it’s something everyone has been through at some point in their lives; looking back and wondering if they made the right decision.

To accompany Kissing In The Cold, the official video has also been released today. Shot in Northampton, the video sees Florrie walking through the dusky streets, reflecting the meaningful story of the track while she performs the heartfelt, passionate lyrics. “I really wanted to create that feeling of nostalgia, a hazy memory that pops into your head when you’re just falling asleep. For me these are the times when I’m reminded of those distant happy memories of early relationships, when nothing really mattered but you had no idea what you were doing! Also shoutout to the people of Northampton who offered to help at every street corner we turned!”

After a run of well-received independent singles, including 2019’s Grey’s Anatomy-soundtracking Borderline, Florrie announced her debut album release, a pearlescent pop masterpiece, The Lost Ones. Speaking of the album, she said, “I have been waiting to make my debut album for the last 12 years and it deserved all the time and love I’ve put into it.”

Florrie has enjoyed the breathtaking highs and endured the devastating lows of the industry’s winding rollercoaster after crashing into the industry in 2010 with her first EP, Introduction. After two more EPs of forward-thinking independent pop that earned her international acclaim, a major label signing, and a challenging period of navigating differing opinions about her artistic direction, she took a step back from music to rebuild and rediscover her love of writing and producing.

With a successful songwriting career, you’ve definitely heard her songs. As a member and drummer of songwriting supergroup, Xenomania, Florrie has co-written huge hits for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Rebecca Ferguson, The Saturdays and Pet Shop Boys.

2024 is set to be her most exciting year yet. The Lost Ones was predominantly written and produced by Florrie and Xenomania founder, Brian Higgins and also sees her collaborate with hit-maker Takura Tendayi (Rihanna, Chase and Status). Along with the two new headline shows at Mercury Lounge in New York City on June 3rd and at the Courtyard Theatre in London on June 20, Florrie hits the USA with multi-instrumentalist G Flip later this spring, on their tour starting in New Orleans on May 16. Florrie will then support Girls Aloud on the five London dates of their phenomenal comeback tour at the O2 Arena in June. It’s an exciting, full-circle moment, having played drums on Girls Aloud’s 2008 hit, The Promise and co-written their 2012 single Something New.
