Electronic music powerhouse Jonas Blue unveils, 'Madan', a reimagination of the cult-classic from the “Golden Voice of Africa”, Salif Keïta.
After discovering the original record at just 12 years old, Salif Keita’s ‘Madan’ quickly became the soundtrack to Jonas Blue’s seminal years. Fast forward to today, he is breathing new life into the very track that inspired his own career. Using never-before-heard sounds from Keïta’s original session stems, Jonas seamlessly weaves his signature sound into the robust cultural fabric of the track.
From Jonas Blue: “When I was 12 years old, I discovered Madan by Salif Keïta remixed by Martin Solveig in a London record shop – and it’s stayed with me ever since. It became part of the soundtrack to my life, influencing my sets and productions ever since. When I was invited to create a new version, it meant so much to me that it initially felt untouchable. But once I received the original session stems, everything changed. There were beautiful, unheard parts from Salif and his band that never made it into the remix the world knows. It felt like uncovering a hidden treasure.”

As he infuses the traditional African instrumentation and vocals with an undeniably groovy electronic bassline and new original chords that capture Keita’s original jazzy warmth, the track takes a shape that feels both entirely new and deeply familiar at the same time. Textured, alive and timeless, Jonas Blues ‘Madan’ is a treasure hunt of sound that introduces a new generation of fan to a sound that’s long inspired true feeling.
From Jonas Blue: “My goal was to honour the spirit of the original while bringing it into my world, sonically – blending those African instruments and vocals with the sound I’m known for today. I’ll never forget the first time I played it out. It was at Pacha Ibiza during the Defected Records closing party – my final show of the summer – I remember mixing it in and just feeling this incredible moment on the dancefloor. It sounded and felt fresh, emotional and completely different to everything else in my set. Madan is timeless, and I’m proud to introduce its magic to a whole new generation, just like it did for me all of those years ago.”
‘Madan’ arrives as a clear example of not only Jonas Blue’s ability to craft infectious earworms designed for dance, but also to skillfully merge cultures in authentic ways for a uniquely global sound. Following a massively successful 2025, the track sets the tone and leads the way for the year ahead as he embarks on a new sonic era.
