Electro-pop trailblazers Lucky Iris release their debut mixtape, fall in love with the dj, arriving alongside the new single & title-track - out today via EMI North Records label partner Launchpad+.
Locking together the final fragments of their brand new mixtape with a sense of full-circle purpose, ‘fall in love with the dj’ guides songwriter-producer duo Maeve and Jasper back to their origin point, the low-lit, bass-heavy rooms that shaped their vision long before they found their voice.
“Going out was my first taste of freedom, and when I want to feel that again, I know where to go,” tells Maeve. “I think it’s silly because I wrote this song after a night out with my best friends at a pretty cult bar in Leeds and the DJ played a track from ‘Black Rose’ by Thin Lizzy which is one of my favourite albums of all time. It’s nowhere close to the music we make, but it always takes me back to growing up and falling in love with music.”

Maeve continues, “I think to connect with music is to feel understood, and there’s something about standing right next to the speaker, hearing your favourite song and feeling like the DJ is there just for you. Maybe they are, but that doesn’t matter, what matters is how it makes you feel.”
The fall in love with the dj mixtape arrives after a breakthrough 2025 for Lucky Iris. Singles ‘i just want to dance’, ‘play me like a speaker’, and ‘heart 4 heart’ have ignited a wave of excitement around the Leeds duo, a rise further fuelled by their first UK tour supporting Master Peace across October and November. Widely praised for their commanding stage presence and cutting-edge technical arrangements, 2025 also saw the pair share stages with defining artists in the mainstream pop space including Babymorocco, Dorian Electra, LYNKS, Kai Bosch, Hannah Diamond, Bimini, and Jessica Winter, alongside an appearance at SXSW London 2025, marking another milestone in their ascent.
What began as a bedroom pop experiment during lockdown has now been fully transformed, with the mixtape caterpulting the duo into bold, genre-blurring territory and establishing a defining moment in their artistic evolution.
Ever-evolving and self-taught, Lucky Iris joined forces with acclaimed mixing engineer Richard Wilkinson (Adele, Bombay Bicycle Club, Kaiser Chiefs) and Latin Grammy-nominated Felipe Arvelo to breathe life into fall in love with the dj. Pulsing with inventive, forward-thinking electro-pop beats and weaving together glitchy, incandescent instrumental textures, the mixtape channels the irreverent spirit of Fcukers, Frost Children, The Itch, and Confidence Man, showcasing a duo fully confident in their unmistakable sound.
“‘fall in love with the dj’ is about finally making the music we want to hear,” says Maeve. “It’s about dancing, it’s about yearning, it’s about love and loss and most of all it’s about music. Whatever it is, it’s crunchy, it’s pop music and ultimately, it’s meant to be enjoyed.”
