Australian rock darlings Pacific Avenue share 'Leaving For London', taken from recently released debut album Flowers, out via BMG.
Flowers is twelve tracks of glorious sun-soaked Rock ‘n Roll, that parades across the musical spectrum between rollicking forthright grooves and deft, delicate piano ballads. Memorable hooks and melodies permeate the band’s songwriting and performances, creating exuberant atmospheres apt for immense singalongs amid festivals, road trips and backyard gatherings alike.
The band talk about the process/inspiration behind recording ‘Flowers’: “To us, this album has defined our sound and encapsulated everything that we have been through from the beginning. Each song has a permanent marker in my memory as it takes me back to a time and place, and I hope that the listener can share this feeling. If there’s anything we want people to take away from the record it’s for you to feel included.”

The band continue: “That’s really the whole point of Rock and Roll and why we’re a band, so you can go to a show and be in a room full of people you don’t know, yet still feel connected to everyone because you’re all screaming the same words about falling in love, or moving to a new city, or getting caught in the rain, whatever it is. It’s nothing that hasn’t already been done before, but it’s something we’ve wanted to be a part of for a long time.”
From the sombre tones of ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Someone’s Asking’, to the searing guitar solos of ‘Devotion’ and ‘Easy Love’, Flowers is an all-encompassing anthemic ride that showcases the versatility and gravitas of Pacific Avenue. Themes of positive affirmation from the feel-good ‘Give It Up For Yourself’ flow into the howling longing of ‘Leaving For London’, as the record does justice to both the carefree and laidback, and the heart-on-your-sleeve reminiscing, in equal measure.
Throughout their career so far, Pacific Avenue have garnered widespread praise from NME, The Guardian, Clash Magazine (UK), Atwood Magazine (USA), Wonderland Magazine (UK), Tone Deaf, AAA Backstage, Backseat Mafia and MILKY, and their music videos have been added to MTV Upload and ABC’s rage. They’ve also received extensive playlist support from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Manchester United, BBC One and BT Sport.
To accompany the album, the band will embark on their most extensive national tour yet across Australia. They’ve previously sold-out multiple shows across their last four headline tours and supported the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, DMA’S, Louis Tomlinson (UK), The Wombats (UK), Tash Sultana, Ocean Alley, Lime Cordiale, San Cisco, Ruby Fields and Thelma Plum. They’ve also been booked on festivals such as Lost Paradise, Party in the Paddock, This That, Spaced Out, Yours & Owls, Snowtunes and Burleigh Ball Festival.
