Telenova, an important new Australian trio, have released their brand new single 'Teadrdrop', out now via Fiction.
The band perfectly craft beautifully, poignant music that plays like cinema for your ears. New release ‘Teardrop’ out today comes with a stunning, high quality official video, which works in tandem to show everything that embodies their intricate and thought-provoking sound whilst having the power to make you want to dance. The release is the first to be released by UK tastemaker label Fiction.
On the surface, the gripping nature of ‘Teardrop’ has a mystique to it, invoking both warmth and darkness in equal measures. Explaining its meaning below the surface frontwoman Angeline Armstrong says: “We wanted to capture the volatile nature of our ever-changing human emotions in this song. I have this innate longing and hope for stability and joy, but in tension to that, I often find myself doing and saying things I don’t mean to say or feel. Josh and I were interested in exploring that tension in the lyrics, how sometimes even the journey towards happiness and light can be tinged with a sadness or darkness, ‘a teardrop on the sunshine”

The official video that accompanies today’s release was directed by Angeline and fellow director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore (Courtney Barnett, Hiatus Kaiyote).
Telenova is formed of Asian-Australian frontwoman Angeline Armstrong who combines her brilliance as a songwriter and filmmaker to form the magic you hear today, alongside Edward Quinn & Joshua Moriarty, who are incredibly talented multi-instrumentalists and songwriters. The band were initially influenced by the likes of Karen O and Danger Mouse’s collaboration “Lux Prima” but pull together from different personal tastes which forms the eclectic sound on everything they do.
The trio has already headlined shows in London, Athens, Prism Berlin and Hamburg before joining fellow countryman RUEL on tour across Europe playing to 15,00 people along with a slot at Reeperbahn, where they played tracks like ‘Bones’ and ‘Tranquilize’ that have made a real connection with fans in their homeland and beyond. Along being a regular on Triple J, they’re been played across tastemaker radio stations such as BBC 6Music & KCRW along with strong reviews in NME and Guardian amongst others.
At home they have enjoyed various accolades including the 2022 AIR Breakthrough Artist award, appearing on Triple J’s Hottest 100, embarking on multiple sold-out tours and appearing on major festival lineups across Australia, building a dedicated audience and widespread praise.
