Tom Chaplin follows the release of his stunning new album Midpoint with the record's latest single, ‘Overshoot’.
The track comes ahead of Tom’s 13 date UK headline tour next month. The album’s closing track, ‘Overshoot’ is a heart-breaking, heart-filling ode to love, staying the course and embracing the entirety of life’s journey. “The line, ‘with a little luck, we’ll be dancing, when the lights go up’ – it’s me saying to my wife, when we’re ancient and decrepit and the ship’s going down, hopefully we’ll still be hand in hand,” Tom said of the track.
Tom began writing the songs for Midpoint two years ago when Keane’s 2019 Cause and Effect tour was interrupted by the pandemic. The songs, all founded on reflection and imagination, were recorded in six weeks at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Bath and Paul Epworth’s The Church in North London.

Coming as Tom enters mid-life, Midpoint is like nothing else. “There’s space for something nuanced that explores a part of life that everyone goes through,” Tom says. “If I can get some of that across and it can resonate with something people are feeling in their lives-well, I’d be more than happy with that.”
Produced by Ethan Johns, this emotionally charged collection – his first release on BMG – features thirteen brand new songs sung with beauty and grace as at 43, Tom Chaplin now finds himself at an equilibrium. It’s the first where the Keane frontman presents all of himself: as a writer, a singer, a husband, a world-beating artist with a past (and all the ups and downs that come with it) – and as a middle-aged man.
Tom and his band will tour the UK this autumn starting 6 October at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall and finishing up at the London Palladium on 22 October.
