AKA, the new project of Liverpool based musician, producer and The Mysterines guitarist, Callum Thompson, releases new single 'Control'.
Produced by Callum himself and mastered by Felix Davis (Geese, The Horrors, Yard Act), it’s the effortlessly cool sound of an artist very much in “control”.
The release follows AKA’s exhilarating debut single ‘It Grows On Trees (Money)’ which was labelled as “a bleary, fuzzed-out, melodic psych rock jam” by NME and “a sardonic indie burner” by Clash.
Listen to ‘Control’ on the Liverpool Official playlist.
Blending character-driven songwriting with quirky sample led soundscapes, the project marks a fresh musical direction for Callum and reflects an unconventional approach.
Following an in-store at Rough Trade East in partnership with Metropolis Studios, a raucous live set at The Great Escape and a sold-out headline show at Liverpool’s iconic Quarry, AKA played a set at the alternative indie Midi Festival in France alongside the likes of Little Grandad, Ulrika Spacek and will play a show at Manchester’s YES on August 8 as part of Dork’s Day Out.
