TOMORA share the new rework of ‘HAVE YOU SEEN ME DANCE ALONE?’ by Rosa Pistola, who takes the track into a brand new cumbiatón territory.
The Colombia-born, Mexico City-based DJ and producer turns the original into something hypnotic, building a remix of ghostly synths and tribal low-end that draws as much from old video game soundtracks as it does from the Latin club scenes she has helped define through her label La Chekera Rec.
Rosa Pistola says, “When I was invited to make the remix, and specifically to make it in cumbiatón, I was honestly pretty surprised, because cumbiatón isn’t really well regarded in the electronic music scene, not even within reggaetón. So I even felt a little incredulous at first, but in the end it was all real, and it was super beautiful to make a track in this style. The final result is a spooky song, fully cumbiatonera, where the synths sound like ghosts. It also makes me think a bit of some old-school video game songs, in those ghost worlds. It’s a track I’m 100% going to play.”

The remix follows TOMORA’s debut album COME CLOSER, the highly acclaimed collaborative project between Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers and AURORA, released earlier this year. Currently on tour, TOMORA will land at festival stages across the world throughout the summer, before returning back to the UK and Europe for their headline shows including London’s The Roundhouse on October 28.
COME CLOSER is an album less about two separate artists finding a fertile middle ground and more the sound of a tenacious duo connecting in the studio and hitting massive creative peaks together. Across the twelve-track album, Tom and AURORA build their own unique space: somewhere they can produce the kind of magic and electricity that comes from flicking through a perfect record collection, flowing from the wigged-out psychedelia of the 1960s to the super-futurism of sounds imagined for the 2060s.
