Blossoms release new single, 'Husband', the fourth track to be taken from upcoming sixth studio album, Songs From The Wedding Cake.
The accompanying video, directed by Tom Ogden, is the next instalment of Blossoms’ surreal style video series, each one introduced by actor Callum Scott Howells and featuring an unexpected British star turn, with previous cameos from Maya Jama and Declan McKenna. This time it’s Jack O’Connell, who takes on a rather more domestic role than usual: making a cottage pie, start to finish, in a nod to the song’s themes of home and the everyday.
The band met Jack at Glastonbury several years ago and have remained friends since. When the conversation turned to cooking a classic British dinner for the video, it was Jack who suggested the cottage pie.

The album title takes its name from a Stockport nickname for the town’s iconic Victorian town hall – where Tom got married. It’s an apt frame for a record built around one guiding idea: taking the ordinary moments of life and putting them through an extraordinary lens. The result is Blossoms at their most expansive and most personal; an irresistible cocktail of 80s-flecked funk, heart-on-your-sleeve anthems and dance-floor indie bangers that feels, ten years on from their Mercury Prize-nominated debut, like the record they’ve been building towards.
Songs From The Wedding Cake was recorded at Tilehouse Studios with producer Shawn Lee – known internationally as one half of London duo Young Gun Silver Fox. ‘Husband’ follows previous album singles ‘Joke About Divorce’, ‘Meet Me In Love’ and ‘Additional Driver’.
