BRIT-nominated star Charlotte Plank drops her first release of the year – the highly-anticipated, 'crybby blue'.
Co-produced and co-written with Kurisu, who worked on Charlotte’s autobiographical release ‘ellen’, the track serves as the first preview of Charlotte’s forthcoming project, worked on in collaboration with prolific New York-based producer Aire Atlantica (SZA, INJA, Jigitz, King Princess, Obongjayar).
Teased over the festive period, ‘crybby blue’’s social media pick-up highlights Charlotte’s growing influence and talent for relatable storytelling, with the sound already surpassing over 1m views on TikTok. The track’s addictive flow and nostalgic feel have sparked conversations online with fans drawing comparisons to early Grimes and SOPHIE, as well as gaining early champions including DJ Jyoty and Joy Anonymous.

On the track, Charlotte says, “This song is hands down one of my favourite things I’ve ever made. Written in 2024 when I was going through a phase of going back to basics, back to my roots, channelling nostalgia and a timeless sonic. I was writing songs that felt true to me, paying homage to some of my earliest influences and not getting too caught up on production.”
Ready to showcase her raw talent to the world, Charlotte’s stays determined to defy genres, instead focussed on how her music resonates with listeners. Exploring the emotional complexity of a previous relationship that left her feeling lost with blurred boundaries, Charlotte continues to be introspective with her art, offering her music as a way of escapism for listeners.
“Lyrically it unpacks the emotional blackmail I faced in a relationship – where I felt cornered by his tactics and tools to keep me close. It feels like the nostalgic, classic, DIY feeling of the track has really resonated with a lot of people online. Cutting through the noise of AI generated and super polished soulless music means a lot to me – to be recognised alongside other artists going against the grain and staying true to themselves.”
The release follows Charlotte’s ClubLiminal EP, realised in May 2025, plus a standout year that saw her power three sold out headline shows, plus another homecoming tour across her birthplace of Australia & New Zealand.
