Chilli Jesson, currently on tour with Fontaines D.C., unveils his brand new single 'Something For Nothing'.
Premiered earlier this week by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, marks Chilli’s first release since standalone single ‘Icarus’ last year and is a tantalising glimpse of the music to come from the rising star.
“Something for Nothing” is a powerful song “about struggle and finding worth in that which is worthlessness: its about having the fire lit under your arse, it’s about not giving up. Musically, its unhinged but still childlike, playful and memorable.” Listeners can look forward to more new music in 2025, as Chilli prepares to release his highly anticipated debut album, recorded at La Frette studios in Paris.

Chilli has been on a mission to discover and showcase his true identity. In the aftermath of his life-changing experience as the key member of hugely successful British indie rockers Palma Violets, Chilli found himself at rock bottom.
After Palma Violets split, Chilli found himself working in a pub and back at his mum’s flat living in his childhood bedroom and battling with a deep depression. Seeing himself as a failure at the mere age of 21, having toured the world and playing countless festivals from 17 years old left him staring at the spongey white walls of rock bottom. Years of self reflection and hard work, digging deep into his hopes, dreams and aspirations has led him to this point.
Unconstrained by his musical past and driven totally by emotion, all of Chilli’s new songs on his forthcoming EP are sizzling with innovative melodies and voluptuous, weighty beats. Currently taking inspiration from the likes of Declan Mckenna, Mura Masa and Lana Del Rey, the songs feel genuinely new and their uplifting and playful melodies that dance and joke unexpectedly with the rhythm – like in final seconds of ‘White Room’ – help to single Chilli out of the pop-en-mass, much like the edginess of his vocal delivery and the raucousness of his live performances. There is an innate rock’n’roll energy here that you just can’t fake.
