Taking part in our Five A-Side feature on Matchweek 10 of the 2026/27 Premier League season is David Woolford of Adult Leisure.
Five A-Side sees us put five questions to our artists ahead of the upcoming Premier League round of games. Four questions relate to the games taking place in the top flight that weekend, with the fifth centred around the team they support, whatever league they happen to be in. They’ll earn points for each correct answer, and we’ll keep track of every artist’s progress. Matchweek 9 of the season saw Euan Mail of Rosellas score 6 points out of a possible 15 points.
Formed in 2020 and recently signed to Big Loud Rock, Bristol-based alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure released a string of celebrated singles before unveiling their debut critically acclaimed EP The Weekend Ritual’in December 2022. Championed by BBC Radio 1, Variance Magazine, The Independent, RTE and Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon on Sirius XM, the band have received rave live reviews from shows supporting the likes of Afflecks Palace and The Luka State. Last year saw the release of their debut album, The Things You Don’t Know Yet, featuring their latest single, ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Her’ – which you can listen to on our New Releases playlist on Spotify.
David Woolford is a supporter of Arsenal, with the band’s lead guitarist speaking about where his love for the Gunners began:
“I all started when I was about 10 or 11-years-old watching Match of the Day. Every kid my age was a Man Utd fan and I remember just being in awe watching Arsenal. My old man was a good footballer but he never had a specific team so when we would watch all the highlights on a Saturday, we’d watch every game with the same level of appreciation. I just got immersed with Arsenal.”
Five A-Side: Premier League Matchweek 10: David Woolford (Adult Leisure)
- Nailed on win this weekend (1 point): Manchester City to win at Nottingham Forest.
David – “They’re playing well under Maresca although I’d be more than happy if Forest do a number on City.”
- Shock win of the weekend (2 points): Tottenham to win away at Leeds.
David – “I’ve gotta feeling the recent run of wins will give them a boost and they’ve got a good team that just needed to click and get a bit of confidence. Again though, would be more than happy if Leeds take the win.“
- Most likely game to see a red card given in (3 points – bonus point for correct player sent off): Arsenal v Hull.
David – “It’s a tricky one but if I had to have a guess I’d go for Gabriel to be sent off. I don’t think it will happen but if there was a player most at risk of a card, it may well be Gabriel.“
- Wildcard prediction for the weekend (4pts)
David – “I’ll go with Manchester United beating Villa. I’ve got a lot of time for Emery, but there’s currently so much intensity and scrutiny at United and a lot will hang on that game for Carrick.“
- Prediction for Arsenal’s EFL Premier League game at home to Hullh (3pts for correct result, 2pts for correct scoreline): Arsenal to win 2-1.
David – “I think we’ll win but based on current form it will be tight. It’s been a strange start to the season, I don’t think we invested enough in the front three positions and one injury sets us back. Tzolis looks good but I’m not sure he’s the sort of player to takes us to that next level.“
