Electro-funk duo Chromeo share 'Lost And Found', the latest focus track from their long awaited new album, Adult Contemporary, out today.
A 14-track groovy meditation on what it means to be funky in your 30s and 40s, the sixth studio album from the iconic Grammy-nominated duo of Dave 1 (Dave Macklovitch) and P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) is peak Chromeo sultry sophistication.
Cheeky wordplay in tow, Dave & Pee return to the electro-funk sound of their early years, augmenting it with layers of live instrumentation, lush string arrangements and slick horn sections. It’s the purest, most honest expression of the aesthetic the Funklordz have been honing for the past two decades. A new video for ‘Lost And Found’, directed by Spencer Ford (Troye Sivan, JAWNY, BROCKHAMPTON) – the band’s go-to collaborator on this project – also debuts today.
“We just realized this: our first album came out January 17, 2004. Now Adult Contemporary is here, basically 20 years later to the day,” says Dave. “We’re definitely in our Steely Dan muso era now, with double-breasted suits and tassels on our shoes, but deep down we’re still the same two kids from Montreal, geeking out over old George Duke vinyl. Above everything, beyond the accolades, the numbers, the awards, all we’ve ever strived for is longevity,” adds Pee. “We’ll be funking just the same for the next 20!”

As the riotous early 2000s era that propelled them to indie superstardom becomes the stuff of legends, Dave 1 and P-Thugg approach this new chapter with their swagger intact. After recently lending their production to some of the industry’s brightest talents—Omar Apollo, Blu De Tiger, Ian Isiah and Onyx Collective included—Chromeo locked themselves in their LA and Brooklyn studios and concocted their most musically expansive and lyrically focused album to date.
While their previous two LPs were more collaborative, Adult Contemporary marks a return to the duo’s original formula: Dave and Pee wrote, produced, performed and arranged every single song, centering on the intimacy of their partnership. Adult Contemporary features previously shared singles ‘Personal Effects’, dancefloor banger ‘(I Don’t Need A) New Girl’, synth-laden ‘Replacements’ and ‘Words With You’. The album’s only guests are a deliberate nod to the duo’s foundational years: Adult Contemporary is mixed by New York house legend Morgan Geist (Storm Queen, Metro Area), mastered by French Touch hero Alex Gopher (Phoenix, Air) and includes a duet with La Roux, a longtime close friend of the band.
Through shiny synths and sharp lyrics, Chromeo have set themselves apart as the quintessential modern funk scholars, proving time and again that no one does it quite like them. Across their six LPs, Dave 1 and P-Thugg established an 80s-infused electronic sound that has become the lingua franca of pop music. Together, the inseparable friends have toured the world over, perfecting a musical and visual language that is now instantly recognisable—and more refined than ever before.
In celebration of the new music, Chromeo will embark on a much-anticipated international headline tour this spring, including dates in London, Paris, Berlin, Scandanavia, and Mexico City. This will be followed by a sprawling North American co-headline run with The Midnight this fall—dubbed the “Chrome Nights” Tour—including performances at New York’s Terminal 5, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and more.
