Aberdeen quartet Cold Years challenge the establishment on their incisive new single, 'Choke', taken from the band's forthcoming album, A Different Life, out on April 26.
‘Choke’ is a piercing denunciation of the current political state of the UK underpinned by Ross Gordon’s stinging lyrics delivered with debilitating venom: “Where you gonna go when you’ve become something you despise. You took it all, and now you’re nothing but desensitised“. It’s the follow-up to ‘Roll With It’, a scorching socially charged punk rock anthem.
Recorded at The Barber Shop Studios, New Jersey by producer Brett Romnes (Hot Mulligan, Boston Manor, Heart Attack Man, Brand New) & mastered by Rogue Planet Mastering (Against The Current, A Day To Remember, The Bronx), A Different Life is packed with songs that are both intensely personal and universally relatable.

Following on from 2020s Paradise, a politically charged look at life in their hometown of Aberdeen, and 2022’s soaring follow up Goodbye To Misery, Cold Years are returning in 2024 with their most triumphant record yet, A Different Life.
Cold Years are: Ross Gordon (Vocals / Guitar), Louis Craighead (Bass / Vocals / Keys), Finlay Urquhart (Guitar / Vocals), Jimmy Taylor (Drums). Following the release of the album, the quartet are set to play three live headline dates in London, Birmingham, and Glasgow, before hitting the road for tours with Billy Talent and The Dangerous Summer.
